Demi for Your Shot

Tell us a bit about the Your Shot competition?
Basically how the comp works is there are 72 contestants from NSW who are given six weeks training then all compete over 2 days at the Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney. Everyone plays a 25 minute set then the judges select a winner on the Saturday and then on the Sunday. Once the two winners have been chosen they battle it out for the title on the Sunday night. The winner then gets their own set at Stereosonic Music Festival 2013 as well as flying overseas to perform at Paradise Club Mykonos, Womb Nightclub Tokyo or The Yacht Week Croatia.

How long have you been DJing?
I started DJing with my friend Rochelle around a year or two ago. We had played using Serato (a computer program) but we'd never used USB's before so we knew entering Your Shot would be a challenge for us.

What made you enter the competition?
Your Shot is just such a fantastic opportunity for people who want to give DJing a go. The incredible prizes, the skills you pick up, why wouldn't you want to enter! To be picked out of thousands of people and be given the chance to perform a 25 minute set in front of a massive crowd at The Greenwood Hotel with all of our friends watching on, it's going to be insane.

Will you carry on DJing after the competition?
I'll definitely be DJing after the competition. It's such a fun thing to do, making people dance and sing along with you to the music is the best feeling.

Favourite music?

It's so hard to pick a favourite song or artist, but I'm really into all different types of music. Let's just say the genres I'm not a massive fan of are hardcore screamo stuff and country.

Who are you looking forwarding to see at Stereosonic?
The lineup for Stereosonic this year is huge! I can't wait to see Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Empire of the Sun, Bingo Players, Maceo Plex, Flight Facilities, R.L Grime, Lee Foss and so many more.
